One example of this model has surfaced recently and through the kindness of it’s owner we now have some good solid information to display. The fingerboard and bridge are reported to be ebony - a marked upgrade from the standard D-2832 spec. The Pre-War Style 45 inlay pattern is an even more noticeable upgrade. The stamp on the neck block is marked with three separate lines: the word “Custom” at the top, the model number in the middle, and the serial number at the bottom. This is consistent with other known Custom instruments from the 1987 batch. The serial number on the guitar shown below decodes to 1987, which agrees with the official Martin production data
