Total Production 25

This model presents a bit of a mystery since the only example that has surfaced to date shows a model number on the neck block that isn’t precisely what it “should” be. The guitar shown below has a serial number which dates it to 1987, the same year that Martin records for all 100 Custom Shop models. Those production records list 25 total for model CS-28H. The neck block shown below displays a very different model number: CS-HD with no mention of a particular Style. In all other respects the guitar shown conforms to what one would expect from a Style 28 guitar with herringbone binding and upgraded inlay on the fingerboard. FWIW the Pre-War Style 45 inlay pattern matches the one used on the twenty-five CS-35 models, also made in 1987
